Anthony Vieira has more than 16 years of extensive trial and litigation experience in criminal justice– both criminal defense and prosecution of crimes / wrong doers, personal injury / wrongful death cases, and complex litigation. He has tried nearly 200 cases to verdict in multiple State and Federal jurisdictions. His experience in criminal cases includes white collar and business crimes as well as crimes of violence.
Federal & State Government Prosecutor- and a U.S. Naval Federal Criminal Defense & Prosecuting Attorney
Mr. Vieira was a Federal and State Government prosecutor, and he knows the criminal justice system inside and out. Having also been both a Federal and Private Criminal defense attorney, he knows how to investigate and put together a criminal case from all sides.
Much of his skill was forged in the trenches of the military criminal justice system. Mr. Vieira started his career as a trial lawyer in the U.S. Navy JAGC Corps where he received multiple awards, both as a Criminal Defense Attorney and as a Prosecutor. He was honored both by the U.S. Dept. of Justice and by the United States Navy for his outstanding work in Federal Criminal Justice.
He further enhanced his skills in the largest and most complex state criminal system in the country – Los Angeles County , California . For several years he was a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney. He began his work with that office in the elite Major Crimes Unit working on the retrial of the Menendez brothers. He also was a member of that Offices elite Hard Core Gang Unit where he specialized in the prosecution of Criminal Conspiracies. Mr. Vieira received multiple honors from government bodies and agencies including the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, the CLEAR Regional Task Force, and the Pasadena, California, Police Dept., for his outstanding work in State Criminal Justice.
Having the benefit of working before many of the finest state and federal judges in the country, Tony Vieira has spent many years in the criminal justice arena, and has aggressively worked on cases of national prominence, including the “Wrong Way Murders,” the “Pasadena P-9 Witness Murders,” and the re-trial of Erik and Lyle Menendez. Mr. Vieira has also been actively involved in U.S. military cases surrounding abuse at the U.S. Army facility at Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq.
After working for the District Attorneys office, Mr. Vieira continued to broaden his experience in private practice representing deserving clients in various types of cases, including Criminal Defense, Civil Rights, and Civil Prosecutions of Wrong Doers. He has helped hundreds of clients and their loved ones achieve justice.
Additionally, Mr. Vieira speaks on criminal law matters and has been interviewed by CNN, The Washington Post, USA Today, and other national media.
Mr. Vieira enjoys spending time training other attorneys in trial advocacy skills. He is a certified trial skills instructor with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and with the University of California, Hastings School of Law, Trial Advocacy Institute. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Consumer Attorney’s of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Criminal Courts Bar Association, San Francisco Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, and the Christian Legal Society. He has also provided assistance to various prison ministries and community charities.
